Hi, I’m Mick

I started Present Company because I was tired of feeling like my phone controlled my life. I’d go out with friends or family and we’d all be scrolling. I’d attend events that felt hollow. I missed the feeling of being fully present—something I remembered from before smartphones but worried we were losing forever.

So I created the thing I needed: a space where people could put down their devices and actually connect. Where you could listen to a full album without distraction. Make a mixtape for someone you love. Fix a broken radio instead of throwing it away. Shop secondhand without judgment. Remember what it felt like to just…be.

Present Company is not just a series of events. It’s a movement. We sell analog technology because ownership matters. We teach repair because things shouldn’t be disposable. We host workshops because making things with your hands is medicine. We organize thrifting trips because sustainable living should be social and fun.

This isn’t about being anti-technology—I love technology. This is about being pro-human connection. Pro-presence. It’s about choosing how we spend our time and attention.

Future Plans

What’s next: We’re setting up shop in Milton Square and hosting events in venues throughout the Twin Cities. We are so excited to have a storefront in St. Paul—a permanent home for analog living. Eventually, we’ll add a nonprofit arm to provide free and low-barrier programming for youth and other community members.
